Nancy and Vince

At his desk at work.

Now I have a hat story ...

Vince Hellane, Jr., 53, passed from this world on July 18 to continue his adventure in the next. He quietly departed from Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and friends. We will miss his sense of humor and wily ways, his humanity and compassion. As an organ donor, he has given the gift of life to others around the country.

Born in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of James Vincent “Vince” and Nancy Larimore Hellane. Vince was an entrepreneur and a visionary, and an inspiration to all his family and friends. Vince was the founder and president of d’Vinci Interactive, Inc., a computer based e-learning business, located in the Arts and Entertainment District of downtown Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents, Vince is survived by his loving wife, Pat, and young daughter; his “adopted” son, Meylis Ateyev; sister, Julia Ann Hellane, of Maugansville; brother, Timothy Michael Hellane of Greencastle; nephews, Darren “DJ” Reeder of Hagerstown; Gregory Thomas Vincent Pheabus and Andrew Garrott Pheabus of Maugansville; aunts, Julia Elizabeth Hellane Garrott of Williamsport, Md., and Frances Margaret Larimore of Smithsburg, Md.; Peggy Hellane of Elkton and Frances Hellane of Hagerstown; uncle, Richard K. (Edwina) Larimore of Hagerstown; cousins John W. Garrott, Jr., of Williamsport, Md.; David A. Garrott of Wilmington, Delaware; Joseph Glenn Hellane III, of Hagerstown; David Lee Hellane of Smithsburg; Peggy Hellane Morrissey of Elkton, Md.; and John Thomas Hellane III, of Newark, Delaware.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph G. “Jack” and Ruth Hellane of Hagerstown, and Walter K. and May Stauffer Larimore of Edgemont, Maryland; uncles, Joseph Glenn Hellane, Jr, and John Thomas Hellane, Sr., John Warren Garrott, Sr., of Hagerstown, and Edward Stauffer Larimore of Edgemont.
